Vass-furniture
“Vass”, in Swedish, means reed. This word is often used for street and neighborhood names in the city of Gothenburg. This is because large areas of the city were built on the ancient reed beds along the mouth of the river Göta Älv. The aim of this project was to bring attention to the reeds that are still growing in some part of the urban area. The reeds, which were an important building material in the past, have been used as an experimental material to design furniture. The reeds, which taken individually can be fragile, in a large sheaf have a good mechanical strength. To build these furniture, it has been used only two frames where reed sheaves hold the structure. Materials: river reeds, birch wood.
